OVERVIEW
In this assignment student will demonstrate their understanding of connecting end devicesl using HUB and SWTICH. UNDERTAND DATA COMMUNICATION using end devices
Assignment 1 - Lab ,Weighting: 10% of the module
Assignment - Lab1: Learn to use Packet Tracer
Instructions:
Preparation: Ensure you have read the lab script. You are required to register an account with cisco networking academy to access Packet Tracer software.
Objective 1:
● Develop an understand of the basic functions of Packet Tracer
● Create/model a simple ethernet network using 3 end devices(host) and a hub(use appropriate cable)
● Name the devices as given below. Configure IP address for the end devices
KretaPC-Ipv4 address-10.2.1.1 and subnet mask-255.0.0.0
VinaPC-Ipv4 address-10.2.1.2 and subnet mask-255.0.0.0
HRServer -Ipv4 address -10.2.1.3 and subnet mask-255.0.0.0
● Goto command prompt from packet tracer and ping SamPc to DollyPc. Observe the result and snap the image (image1.jpg)
● Send data packet(PDUs) from KretaPC to VinaPC, Observe what happens.
● Observe status ,source , destination, and packet type. Write your observation in word file . Snap the complete screen image. Copy image(image2.jpg) from packet tracer to word file.
In packet tracer, work both in real time mode and simulation mode
Objective 2:

● Name the devices as Kreta(PCO), Vina(PC2) and HRServer(PC2) Configure IP address for the end devices
KretaPC-Ipv4 address -10.2.1.1 and subnet mask-255.0.0.0
VinaPC- Ipv4 address - 10.2.1.2 and subnet mask-255.0.0.0
HRServer- Ipv4 address-10.2.1.3 and subnet mask-255.0.0.0
● Goto command prompt from packet tracer and ping PCO to PC1/PC2. Observe the result and snap the image (image3.jpg)
● Send data packet(PDUs) from KretaPC to VinaPC in real time mode , observe what happens.
● Run in simulation mode , Stop the simulation when the packet stationed at Switch
● Observe status ,source, destination, and packet type. Write your observation in word file with explanation. Snap the complete screen image. Copy image(image4.jpg) from packet tracer to word file.
In packet tracer, work both in real time mode and simulation mode
Note: Appropriate Labelling of end devices is compulsory to ensure complete marks. Image 2 and Image 4 to be snipped from simulation mode
Lab submission to Blackboard:
Reflection of your work, submit a word file(studentname-LabA.docx) which includes:
Objective1 observation and applicable image -4 Marks
Objective2 observation and applicable image-4 marks
Conclude the document with what you learnt, which portion easy and which one challenging-2 marks
