Campaign Management  Tactics Portfolio

Overview: This submission is the tactics created as part of your campaign.

Task Type: Group

Format:

In the contemporary campaign environment it is common for a website to be the ‘home base’ of campaigns, even when the campaign exists on social media or mainstream press. It commonly hosts things like additional resources, links to social and related sites, and media packs.

The deliverables for this unit is a Campaign Website which features as the tactics portfolio that hosts the following:

1 x Campaign Website (including campaign imagery / text)

3 x Social Media Videos

1 x Media Release and Pack (with a list of 5 most relevant media outlets) including any press images

1 x Custom Tactic(s)

Website - Your campaign website should host information about your campaign and  include an overview of how it work (an About section). It should itself be a piece of the campaign material in line with your project goal – this should shape the language, imagery and text.

Social Media Videos – You should make three short form. social media videos for your campaign, the exact length, format and expected platforms should be informed by your target audiences and campaign goals. Consider how these platforms are used and best-practice – for example if TikTok, the videos should generally be vertical in orientation, include a strong ‘hook’, and be engaging in line with the platform.

Media Release – You should create a Media Pack with a press release and create a list of your five most relevant media outlines. In line with best practice, create relevant imagery and resources. This will likely be on a Media section of your website.

Custom Tactics – Further to base concepts of the campaign – this is your time to be creative and make a splash. This might be the centrepiece of your campaign – with your social media videos / website focussing on this. This is your opportunity for an innovative strategy and to apply your skills. This could be a real world event / stunt, podcast, longer form. documentary, or more.

•   To celebrate Bubble O’ Bill’s (an ice cream shaped like a cowboy) 35th year, the campaign wrote a short autobiography about this character -

•    Past Campaign Management students engaged the community in painting rocks by the Maribyrnong River and started a “stones tell a story” campaign which was featured by the local media -

•   To encourage people to travel to Iceland – they made a website where horses

•   To draw attention and raise funds for men’s health, Movember started a

Be creative – for startups and not-for-profits, often creativity is the key to cutting through and getting attention without big budgets.

Include your custom tactic (or document it) and feature this on your campaign website. Make sure all of your materials (including videos and website) are viewable without the need for logins.

Audience:

It is up to your team to determine the target audience for your website, social media and custom tactics. You should identify the most relevant media outlets for your media releases.

Assessment: This will be assessed in line with the rubric.

Extension policy: Special consideration requests can be made per normal using the Special Consideration procedures. These apply on a per person basis.
