General English 2 - Formative Speaking Task 2

A day trip for the class

You and your partner are going to plan a day trip in nature for your class. Work in pairs.

Both of you need to come up with an idea of a day trip, create a presentation and then speak about it for 3mins each making the whole presentation around 6 - 7 mins.

1)  Choose one place in Singapore that is related to nature.

•   Acceptable  → E.g., Night Safari, Hindhede Nature Reserve, Southern Ridges

•   Not acceptable  → E.g., Universal Studios Singapore, my hometown

2)  Think about what you are going to do for the whole day. Where will people go? What will they see? What will they do?

3)  Prepare for your presentation by making notes in the PowerPoint Planner.

TASK: Create a PowerPoint presentation of at least 8 slides and present it.

You may follow the numbering on the PowerPoint Planner to help you for every slide. Your presentation should include all the details in the PowerPoint Planner.

For your PowerPoint presentation, you should …

•   Use dot points: have a maximum of 9 words on every slide

•   Include relevant pictures

To speak and present well, you should …

•   Use good vocabulary and other useful language in the table below

•   Use linking words and transition phrases (e.g., First, … Second,…)
