A researcher in the field of education policy wanted to study whether the location of serving secondary mathematics teachers in Malaysia, whether urban or rural, is one of the factors influencing their attitudes towards reviving the policy of teaching mathematics in English . This researcher had used a questionnaire known as the Teacher Attitude Questionnaire on Reviving the Policy of Teaching Mathematics in English which can measure a teacher's attitude towards reviving the policy of teaching mathematics in English. The higher the score in this questionnaire, the more positive the teacher's attitude towards reviving the policy of teaching mathematics in English . He administered this questionnaire to 63 secondary mathematics teachers who were randomly selected from among the secondary mathematics teachers in Malaysia. Of these, 31 were mathematics teachers of urban secondary schools, while another 32 were rural secondary school mathematics teachers.

The researcher wanted to use the data to answer the following research question:

Is the attitude of urban secondary school mathematics teachers towards reviving the policy of teaching mathematics in English more positive than the attitude of rural secondary school mathematics teachers? Why?

The researcher had collected data for the two variables in the study:

1. Location of the school

2. The score from the Teacher Attitude Questionnaire on Reviving the Policy of Teaching Mathematics in English

Location Variable:

1: Teacher serving in urban school

2: Teacher serving in ruralschool
