Assignment Overview:
In this assignment, you will create a LinkedIn profile (or update your existing profile), utilizing the SAR statements that you created for your resume. Polishing your LinkedIn profile will prepare you to expand your professional network. As an additional resource, we recommend connecting your account to LinkedIn Learning, which is free for GW students. Earning digital badges from LinkedIn Learning will not only provide you with training support but also highlight skillsets on your profile, which may be viewed favorably by potential employers. The GW IT website has instructions and support for activating your account.
Assignment Objectives:
● Create a polished LinkedIn profile to showcase your experience and skills to potential employers
● Build a professional community and utilize this platform. to foster connections amongst your network
Instructions:
● Step 1: Create a LinkedIn profile using your @gwu.edu email address. Your complete profile must include each of the following items. Follow the rubric for specific grading criteria to ensure you include all required components.
○ Profile picture
○ Personalized background image (recommended: Canva)
○ Personalized headline
○ Personalized summary
○ Personalized URL address (please personalize your URL so it is your name with no added numbers and characters – unless the URL is not available or you need to customize itfurther)
○ Education information
○ Work experience (using the SAR statements that you created for your resume)

● Step 2: Send a connection request to your BADM 1003 Mentor and Instructor; these should be accompanied by a brief, personalized message requesting to connect.
● Step 3 (optional): Follow the GWSB Office of Undergraduate Programs LinkedIn page for updates on events and initiatives at the School of Business (https://www.linkedin.com/company/gwsbundergrad/)
● Step 4: Submit your personalized LinkedIn URL in the Assignment tab in Blackboard.
