Assessment Title: Comparing HRM systems in the United Kingdom and Sweden, explaining similarities and differences with cultural and institutional frameworks, as applicable.

Presentation Time: 10 minutes.

Objective: This assignment aims to develop your analytical and comparative skills by examining Human Resource Management (HRM) systems in two different countries. You will (a) collect HRM data and explore the similarities and differences between the HRM practices of your allocated countries, you will then (b) use cultural (e.g. Hofstede, and/or the Globe study and/or other) and institutional frameworks (e.g. the Variety of Capitalism by Hall and Soskice and/or other), as applicable, to provide context and explanations for these variations.

Presentation Task:

You are required to prepare a narrated and recorded presentation, where you:

Research and present HRM data on HRM systems of your two allocated countries, focusing on key aspects such as:

Recruitment and selection; Training and development; Performance management; Compensation and benefits; Employee relations (you need to provide HRM data from reliable data-sets and from academic journals, illustrative company examples can be provided but remember that we are comparing typical HRM in a country and not in a company).
